Together with the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation, SeaRenergy supported the OffshoreWind4Kids Day on the 29th of March.
The aim of the OffshoreWind4Kids Day, was to inspire kids for the topic of Offshore Wind and Renewable Energies. German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation (Stiftung OFFSHORE-WINDENERGIE) and SeaRenergy supported a day full of inspiration for the kids, on occasion of the foundation day of the “Club of Rome”.
The “Club of Rome” is a global think tank and non-profit organization, founded in 1968 by a group of scientists, academics, and industrialists from ten different countries, with the purpose of addressing global issues such as environmental degradation. Regarding the current global development, the question for the German Club of Rome society is now more than ever: What does a life-sustaining future look like and how can we achieve it?
At this day, three classes of the Max-Brauer-School in Hamburg Altona listened with great interest to an exciting lecture about sustainability, renewable energies and offshore wind, held by Jelte Hipp, Managing Director of Elbe1 and Jochen Körner, Project Manager at German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation. Afterwards all children went to the banks of the Elbe to assemble different foundations for wind turbines, namely monopile, suction bucket and floating wind.
We were impressed by the keen interest and many questions the pupils asked about the topic of Offshore Wind, but also by the kids’ knowledge about sustainability and the sense of contributing to a more environmentally friendly way of life.
